Hot News - August 2005   (August 6, 2005)

 

Website statistics: In July we were able to welcome on our website 18'751 visitors

We are on the move again: Since August 4th, our car is sailing on French shipping line CMA-CGM's

"MV Oyapock" from Cayenne/French Guiana to Le Havre in France, where it will be transshipped

to another vessel bound for Singapore. In a sad mood, we left our LandCruiser's container on July 29th

and rode on various minibuses through Suriname back to Georgetown in Guyana where we caught a

BWIA flight to Miami in Florida. There, we changed to a Delta plane to Phoenix in Arizona and arrived

quite exhausted on August 4th in Prescott/Arizona, a nice little town in the USA's Far West on an

altitude of 5'555 ft. While the temperature a100 miles South in Phoenix shows 109° F, up here it's in

the 90's, which is simply beautiful due to the low humidity. This makes the temporary change from the

tropics to the desert just wonderful.

 

The reason why we landed here in Arizona is a friend who invited us to stay with her until the arrival of

our Toyota in the Far East. But as it may become end of September, we are preparing in the meantime

another unique adventure - this time without our "buddy", which hopefully doesn't get seasick.

On July 7th, 2005, we were able to celebrate after a journey through 150 countries the car's

600'000th Kilometer - very prosaic before the post office in Cayenne/French Guiana.
