Approach above the Andes to the capital
Santiago with the Chilean Sky Airline to
our second South American journey …..
002  ….. view to the partly still snow
covered mountain massif of the Andes
and the Laguna del Inca along the main
road between Argentina and Chile …..
003  ….. and the well attended green
cultivated fields down in the valley
north of Santiago

004  At the Santiago airport arrival hall
Emil is holding up a nameplate of our
German travel friends Brigitte and Gerhard,
whom we have not seen for 20 years …..
005  ….. finally we are meeting again the
two, who inspired us in August 1983 in
Malawi/Africa to embark on our epic world
journey (meant only for 1-2 years) …..
006  ….. we enjoy some precious hours
together in a cozy little restaurant in
Barrio Lastarria in the city center of
Santiago. When shall we meet again?

007  At the port of San Antonio, 71 miles
[115km] west of Santiago: Cranes are rising
behind nostalgic colorful fishing boats
008  The ship "Ever Lovely" of the
Taiwanese Evergreen Line with our
container on board docked at the port
of San Antonio

container in the terminal of Puerto Colum-
bo, 3½mi [6km] southeast of San Antonio
017  Emil explains our country ribbon to
the customs boss who is dispatching us
personally. Fascinated by our adventure,
there is no inspection at all. Merely VIN
and engine numbers and registration
papers are checked
018  A happy Emil is driving our
LandCruiser out of the container terminal
of Puerto Columbo. We managed the
paper work on our own within two days
and paid around US$942 on port fees
(freight US$1'800)

073  An attractive bend of the
Río Quinchilca winding through a
rural scenery in Los Lagos
074  Chile is rich on impressive sceneries:
The perfectly shaped, 8'701ft. [2'652m]
high volcano Osorno raising off a green
plain is one of them
075  Flowers belong to Liliana’s favorite
photo motifs – here a beautiful combination
